Gratitude is powerful stuff.
We actually get physically healthier. Our relationships improve as we focus upon what we want and our problem solving skills flourish as the new focus on gratitude actually expands and opens our minds to new connections and possibilities. As I reflect on my recent journey to this “new” website I am in awe of what agony and frustration lead to peace and beauty. To make a very long story short my Wordpress website of many years was “hacked” and after many months of security experts and it sending out thousands of spam e-mails I finally pulled the plug. The web host said I was just unlucky and that I had been targeted. I lost everything. Years and years of effort, blog posts and stories. I remember the moment I decided to just let go. To start fresh. There was no way I was dragging any of those infected files anywhere so I just surrendered. I said goodbye. I found gratitude in all that I had learned. I found gratitude in the new and clean slate that lay before me. In that moment of decision my life got better. All the pain and struggle went away. I was left with a clear focus on what I want and what I get to create. I practice gratitude daily. I encourage you to exercise this muscle in your life as well. It can be very simple. I keep a daily gratitude journal and write down 5-7 things every morning that I am grateful for. This takes a whopping 2 minutes max. My kids and I have this fun little game that we play at dinner where each person says 3 things they are grateful for, 1 thing they did well that day and 1 thing they are looking forward to. Oh the fun we have!
